David K. Heasley, Partner (Email:
dheasley@sgbdc.com) David K. Heasley has over 20 years’ experience representing individuals and businesses in civil litigation before federal and state courts, as well as administrative agencies. He has represented clients in federal intellectual property and unfair competition litigation, and has prosecuted and defended opposition and cancellation actions before the Trademark Trial and Appeal Board of the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office. Mr. Heasley graduated from Johns Hopkins University in 1978 and received his law degree, with honors, from the University of Maryland School of Law in 1981. An active member of the Maryland and District of Columbia bars, he has an extensive trial and appellate background, and practices before the United States District Courts of the District of Columbia and Maryland, and the United States Courts of Appeal for the Fourth Circuit and the Federal Circuit. Most recently, in conjunction with James L. Bikoff, Mr. Heasley has represented the International Olympic Committee and the American National Red Cross in state and federal proceedings. He also lectures visiting foreign judges and attorneys regarding trademark litigation in the United States.
